🙋‍♀️ Jane's Motivation

After a successful career in sales, I chose to pivot to tech. My journey towards this change was not linear but driven by a combination of personal passions, setbacks, and realizations. During my time with travel tech giants and an early-stage startup, I grew to love the technical fields associated with product, interface, and data. This discovery led me to self-learn various data analytical tools and languages like SQL, where I discovered a passion for coding, analytical thinking, and problem-solving. I deeply regret not pursuing STEM from a younger age, but this wasn’t due to a lack of interest or aptitude. Growing up, societal norms and the absence of appropriate resources led me to believe that I wasn’t cut out for the STEM field. However, my recent self-discovery has proven otherwise. My motivation for joining SheCodes is twofold. First, as an Indonesian woman aiming to establish herself in Norway, I recognize that coding and IT are high-demand sectors in Scandinavia. I've worked incredibly hard to learn Norwegian up to a B2 proficiency, but I believe adding coding to my skillset would open up even more opportunities for me in Norway. Second, once established, I aim to inspire and empower other Indonesian women, debunking the myth that they aren’t suited for STEM roles. I want to be a testament to the idea that with grit, continuous learning, and the right resources, any dream is attainable. Joining SheCodes would be a pivotal step in this journey.
